My travels began with a brief yet as always unforgettable stop in Barbados, where I spent six days catching up with friends and family, soaking up the sun, and indulging in some much needed rest and restoration. My dear friend Matty picked me up from the airport and it was so lovely seeing him after such a long time. We spent the evening catching up and watching all sorts of sports on tv.
Each day was a perfect blend of relaxation and enjoyment, paying visits to places on the island that are close to my heart. It felt amazing to be surrounded by familiar faces, and new ones, sharing stories under the sun. One of the highlights of my brief yet enriching stay in Barbados was an unforgettable boat trip with friends. It wasn’t just the stunning scenery or the serene waters that made it special, but the eclectic mix of people on board, each bringing their own unique stores and energy to the day. This part of travel I find utterly invaluable, the blessing of meeting such interesting people along the way, learning about their lives and listening to their advice and stories, enriching my understanding of the world and broadening my horizons.
My six days in Barbados flew by, but they left an inedible mark on my heart. As I packed my bags to continue my travels, I carried with me the warmth of the island, the joy of family and friends, and a renewed sense of peace and restoration, and an eagerness to return to the island I would call my second home. Until next year Barbados, and I promise it will be more than six days.
